Eleven Months

David's first birthday is rushing at us so quickly.. where did the time go? He's changed so much since that early early morning last summer when he joined our family from Heaven. What an incredible kid! Today, David turned eleven months! My little baby is turning into a little toddler & it's so exciting watching him learn new things & try to copy Jamin & I. David is quite the cruiser around the couch these days. He'll hang onto anything & go walking along. A lot of times it's his walker in the kitchen (with cheerios bedecking the tray, of course), but he'll grasp your hands & toddle a little bit for you too. Our little guy has mastered getting down from the couch too. If he's done being in your lap or playing on the couch, he'll turn around & slide down to the floor. We are working on the stairs. He climbs them with amazing speed (eek!) but is usually very distracted when going down, so it takes a little while with someone spotting him from behind as he goes on his hands & knees. (he likes to turn around & smile at you...silly kid! Not so safe for trying to avoid falling down the stairs though!)
David is such a joyful little boy. He has happily discovered his voice & loves to hear it echo... especially at church ;) Speaking of church - he is the biggest flirt! His favorite thing to do is sit & chat & flirt with the people sitting behind or beside us. He also is loud until someone looks at him & smiles, then he smiles back & sometimes giggles.. little stinker! hehe. The grocery store cashiers can always cajole a smile from his pacifiered lips too. He chats with his toys during the day & we chat often about what I'm doing, whether it's fixing dinner or cleaning up his messes. :) Jamin & David's conversations these days are a little less one-sided now & that's a lot of fun. Among his favorite words are "uh oh" & "wow" (usually spoken loudly like "wowowowow" - it's fun seeing his cute little mouth make a tiny little o & then go big & wide for a large O) He'll say mama & dada, but usually in his jabbering & not directed at either of us.
Lately, David has started to point & also wave. Within the past few days, he has just started clapping too - a lot of fun!
David is a voraciously curious child - so wonderful! That trait definitely keeps us on our toes. He is very social & enjoys being in our laps often & right in the middle of whatever Jamin or I are doing. However, his preference food-wise is independence. He likes feeding himself - whatever we are eating, of course.
Our beautiful, wonderful boy... the world is so lucky to have you in it!
