Sleeping Like a Baby

David may still be sleeping like a baby, but he's doing so in his big boy bed!
(look at how cute he is, clutching his stuffed animal!)
In the beginning of April (April Fool's Day, to be exact), we converted David's crib to a toddler bed by removing the side rail.  I went into his room after he awoke from his nap to discover him attempting to climb out.  Right then, I grabbed the screwdriver (after removing the kid, of course) & took off his side rail.  We already had a little stool & a safety bar/net, so those were set up as well.  David learned pretty quickly how to get in & out of his bed & he seems to love the independence of the new arrangement.
Most of the time, we crack his door open after he falls asleep so he can scamper into our room in the morning.  It's cute because we really do enjoy hearing the pitter patter of his little feet when he wakes up in the morning.  He has been waking up earlier the past couple weeks, but comes in & wants to cuddle with mom & dad for a bit (before asking for toast or hot dogs or apples or any random food item first thing in the morning).  There have been a few mornings when Jamin or I forgot (or chose not to) crack his door open & we hear him talking & playing with his toys or reading his books.  Occasionally when he's done being on his own, he'll knock on his door to get out.  How funny is that! :)
Another funny thing that David has been doing is he closes his door behind him when he leaves his room in the morning.  I couldn't figure out where he learned that habit, but then I realized recently that he must get it from seeing us close the doors all the time.  The only door that's open upstairs is his room, so we always close the doors when we leave the room.  Thank goodness he can't open door handles on his own yet!  It's only a matter of time though!
