Memorial Day Weekend

We had a nice productive weekend here at home. Jamin got a new propane BBQ to celebrate the sunshine. We love how quick it is to get dinner ready & Jamin loves the easy cleanup. On Monday, Jamin, David & I joined Jack & Jeri on Lake Merwin for a beautiful day on the boat. It was David's first boat ride & he seemed to really enjoy it. While Dad was parking the truck & trailer, David made himself at home in the driver seat. He did so well keeping his sunglasses on (& his hat, which we put on after this pic). Jeri took some beautiful pictures, so hopefully I can share more soon!

Zzzzzzz...

There is something about a sleeping baby that just draws my camera close.. it is such a precious sight! About a week ago, Jamin & I were organizing the garage & had David in his walker so he could be a safe distance away from us. After a little bit, he got pretty quiet & we discovered that he fell asleep.. I couldn't resist snapping a picture before moving him his comfy crib to finish his slumber.

Eleven Months

David's first birthday is rushing at us so quickly.. where did the time go? He's changed so much since that early early morning last summer when he joined our family from Heaven. What an incredible kid! Today, David turned eleven months! My little baby is turning into a little toddler & it's so exciting watching him learn new things & try to copy Jamin & I. David is quite the cruiser around the couch these days. He'll hang onto anything & go walking along. A lot of times it's his walker in the kitchen (with cheerios bedecking the tray, of course), but he'll grasp your hands & toddle a little bit for you too. Our little guy has mastered getting down from the couch too. If he's done being in your lap or playing on the couch, he'll turn around & slide down to the floor. We are working on the stairs. He climbs them with amazing speed (eek!) but is usually very distracted when going down, so it takes a little while with someone spotting him from behind as he goes on his hands & knees. (he likes to turn around & smile at you...silly kid! Not so safe for trying to avoid falling down the stairs though!)
David is such a joyful little boy. He has happily discovered his voice & loves to hear it echo... especially at church ;) Speaking of church - he is the biggest flirt! His favorite thing to do is sit & chat & flirt with the people sitting behind or beside us. He also is loud until someone looks at him & smiles, then he smiles back & sometimes giggles.. little stinker! hehe. The grocery store cashiers can always cajole a smile from his pacifiered lips too. He chats with his toys during the day & we chat often about what I'm doing, whether it's fixing dinner or cleaning up his messes. :) Jamin & David's conversations these days are a little less one-sided now & that's a lot of fun. Among his favorite words are "uh oh" & "wow" (usually spoken loudly like "wowowowow" - it's fun seeing his cute little mouth make a tiny little o & then go big & wide for a large O) He'll say mama & dada, but usually in his jabbering & not directed at either of us.
Lately, David has started to point & also wave. Within the past few days, he has just started clapping too - a lot of fun!
David is a voraciously curious child - so wonderful! That trait definitely keeps us on our toes. He is very social & enjoys being in our laps often & right in the middle of whatever Jamin or I are doing. However, his preference food-wise is independence. He likes feeding himself - whatever we are eating, of course.
Our beautiful, wonderful boy... the world is so lucky to have you in it!

Sith Baby

Ashley & I braved the clouds on Thursday to get a walk in. We timed it just right.. the raindrops sprinkled our heads just as we were loading the boys back in our cars to head home. We are really enjoying the Salmon Creek greenbelt, with all the birds & other creatures that we are discovering with David & Tyson. I had a little giggle as I peeked into the stroller to see how David was doing. He had a blanket over him to keep warm & protect from any possible rain drops & all I could see was his pacifier-ed mouth & his little nose. My first thought was, "gee, he looks like a little baby Sith Lord". Who says that? Am I a nerd or what? Here he is.. Darth David ;)

Picasso in the making

Each time I look at these pictures, I can't help but crack up! This is pure kid stuff - I love it!
Last Tuesday, David helped Tyson with a Mother's Day project & was introduced to finger paint. First let me tell you something .. David absolutely hates touching his feet to dirt or grass. Each time I try to touch his feet to the ground, he has a cow & pulls up his legs. I don't know what it is.. if it's just a weird & different feeling, or if he thinks he's getting dirty... I don't know. So I wasn't sure how he'd take to finger painting.
Let's just let the pictoral evidence speak for itself here...By the end he was painting with his diapered butt as well as his fingers. It was awesome! Ashley & I can't wait to try this again this summer in our back yard with a little kiddie pool (easier clean up!) As you might imagine, I was wondering if the dark colors would stain our pale boys' skin.. that would be a funny looking little boy to greet Daddy when we picked him up! hehe! But it totally washed away! Crayola Washable finger paints.. actually washable! Imagine that! :D Very fun! David was smiling & squealing with delight the whole time.

Updated Info

Just a heads up to everyone... If you need our new address, leave a comment or email me so I can get it to you (not posting here for security reasons) :D Jamin & I still have our same mobile phone numbers, but we had to change our home phone number. So just let us know & we can get our updated info to you! Hugs!

The Sun is Shining!

We are all moved in & making this beautiful house our very own home! The kitchen & family rooms are painted (& they look AWESOME! thanks to Ashley & Katie who helped us banish the white walls! - pictures coming soon!), we have a new huge couch (finally! seating for all our friends that doesn't include pulling over folding chairs! lol!), our bedroom is painted & bedroom furniture moved back from our office. Jamin & his dad are spending this lovely, sunny Saturday installing our garage door opener, as well as hacking away at our growing to-do list. Jeri & I spent some time this morning beautifying our front porch with some bright, colorful flowers (pictures coming!), and David is growing quickly & loves 'helping' us out!
Let's catch up a little bit first:

We had a fun Easter with David & our family. After church, we joined the rest of the Jorgensens for a yummy dinner & David went through his Easter basket with Daddy. Jamin wanted to continue a tradition in his family where they received kites on Easter & flew them. David received his very own Elmo kite & once we get the chance to go out & fly it, we are sure it's going to be a hit for our curious little boy.He also loves the little Elmo that came in one of his plastic egss. (he is usually pretty happy just holding onto Elmo)
Another first for David at Easter were bubbles! He giggled when he saw them floating around & seems to enjoy chasing them with his pointer finger.
Here he is with a fun toy that Grandma & Grandpa gave him... it had a ball inside that lights up..he really liked this one!

Packing Up!

Yesterday, Jamin & I signed for our house! We'll be getting our keys any day now! For those of you who know what a planner I am, this is certainly driving me nuts. I can't wait to get our keys & get cleaning & all ready for moving in on Saturday! We are so excited about being in our first home! David won't have to share his room with the computer & will have so much space to play! Here he is helping us pack.. hehe ;)

We had a wonderful Easter & I got some adorable shots of David.. I'll have to share those with you all in a little while.. probably after we're all moved over. Thank you so much to everyone who has offered their help & happy wishes! We're so excited!

Nine Plus Months

It feels like forever since I posted last! David's tooth count is officially three.. two on the top & one on the bottom. There's another lower tooth that's just peeking through the gums now too. Can you believe he's 9.5 months?! I know! His nine month check-up was this past Monday (no shots - yay!) Here are his stats for anyone interested:

length: 28.5 inches
weight: 17 lbs 15 oz

His weight was the same as his 6 month appointment.. however, since then he has been crawling & moving around A LOT. He's a good-looking kid & the Dr. is happy.. so are we!

Here's a cute picture I caught of him today. I put him in his high chair with some cheerios & hopped into the shower. When I came out, I discovered that he fell asleep! It was pretty darn cute! And since it was the first time, I had to take some photos! ;) This is often how he sleeps - with one or both arms behind his head. It cracks me up.. he looks like a little man relaxing. :)

Upside Down Baby!

This past Wednesday night, Jamin & I tried to get some pictures of David's teeth. The only way we really get a good look at him is when we flip him upside down. Anyone who's been around him, knows that David gets a kick out of going upside down.. goofy kid. So he had a big grin to show us. I discovered a bottom tooth that is also starting to peek through his gums! Wow! I guess those teeth just want to all show up at once! David is such a trooper!

Here are a few more pictures, right-side-up, of our silly boy. I love the next one.. big grin, in the middle of jabbering at Daddy. It shows a glimpse of his happy-go-lucky, outgoing personality. In the last picture, you can see his swollen lower gums.
